How this track works
- The aim of this track is for you, at the end of it, to have explored 4 aptitudes that you think you could potentially excel at. You'll also have better understandings of several more.
- The idea is to (1) broaden your horizons on aptitudes that you might develop; and also (2) to conduct your 'due diligence' on aptitudes that you think might be important but which you haven't yet set aside time to try.
- It’s especially important to make sure you have actually spent time testing aptitudes that you might think of as ‘not being your thing!’
- We'd like you to pay special attention to the relevance of these questions in relation to what you might actually go on to do in your career. These questions are important because they affect what you'll be doing for 40 years of your life!
- In each week of this track, you'll pick an aptitude to research and test, and you'll present your findings to your facilitator for input.
- At the end of this track, you will be in a position to do the Investigating job paths + Finding ways to make a difference track. You'll leave this track with a current best guess of your top aptitudes, and then try and work out longer-term job paths that can reconcile your cause priorities and aptitudes.
- If you don’t have a strong sense of what causes you find most important and why, we recommend first doing the Exploring cause areas track.
What it looks like for this track to go well
- We think a failure mode of this track is to narrowly focus on aptitudes that you already have a lot of experience in, without exploring the full range of your potential capabilities.
- Instead we'd like you to try and approach this track with a very strong scientific mindset. Begin with hypotheses about your fit for each aptitude and then come up with experiments you could run to test your fit. You might be surprised!
- Even if you aren’t surprised, we think there is a lot of value in the knowledge that you have actually tested several aptitudes and have a justified guess of where your strengths lie.
